100% support for the Translation Sector Covenant
Four translation associations in the Netherlands, VViN, NGTV, VZV and SENSE, teamed up to bring a new level of cooperation to the translation sector by collectively signing the Dutch Language Industry Covenant, and Attached fully supports it.
The first of its kind
With a view on a healthy supply chain in the translation industry in the Netherlands, the covenant promotes respectful cooperation between translation agencies and freelance translators in which equality and professionalism are at the core. The covenant offers recommendations for good client and contractor management, with the end goal being the delivery of high-quality, fit-for-purpose translations to the end client. This requires teamwork, clear agreements and respect for everyone’s added value in the chain.
What makes it even stronger is the fact that four professional organizations have worked together on it – Netherlands Association of Interpreting and Translation Companies (VViN), Dutch Association of Interpreters and Translators (NGTV), the Association of Independent Translators (VZV) and the Society of English-language Professionals in the Netherlands (SENSE).
Attached's full support
As owner of localization agency Attached and secretary of the board of VViN, Eveline van Sandick knows only too well the importance of all the links in the chain working well together. Eveline says: "It is essential to be open with our linguists right from the start, to keep the lines short and to explain clearly what we need from each other to be able to do a good job."
Important points the covenant covers are:
- an open and collaborative relationship
- a good understanding of all parties' work and added value so that everyone can respond well to each other
- collective assurance of data security across the chain
- a way to monitor new developments that affect the industry
Eveline finds these points especially important in these times when tech developments move at the speed of lightening.
Attached gives 100% support to this initiative and looks forward to a deeper cooperation with all links in the chain and to further the success of all parties in this dynamic industry.
